Introduction
My name is Alex Lindsay. I am the Chief Architect and Founder of the Pixel Corps. I started programming graphics in BASIC on an Apple IIe in 1982 and 15 years later was working on “Star Wars: Episode 1” at Industrial Light and Magic as part of the “Rebel Mac Unit”.

Alex LindsayFrom the beginning, I kept saying “There has to be a better way to learn this stuff!” I looked for resources everywhere: schools, books, conferences...all were somewhat useful, but none entirely solved the problems that I faced.

What I was looking for...

An inexpensive, comprehensive, part-time resource where I could train on an ongoing basis...A “martial arts dojo for digital artists” of sorts, where there was discipline and community.

Non-linear access to information...a nutrient-rich environment where I could simply exist and absorb the knowledge that I needed as I needed it.

Contact with real professionals in the field and the opportunity to sink my fingers into the challenges of real production outside of my core expertise without the risks of real production.

...These were the seeds of the Pixel Corps.

The Pixel Corps is my answer to 20 years of frustration. Is it a perfect solution? No...it’s just an attempt to provide what I thought I needed and what I still need. It is the beginning of the path.

The Pixel Corps is designed to provide:

I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to enter and succeed in this industry. I believe this opportunity should be based on commitment and determination, not money or location, and I intend to make the opportunity a reality.

Currently, we have over 1500 members in more than 20 countries participating in the Pixel Corps. This, of course, is only the beginning...
